  1. To set finding preferences:

  3. 1. Highlight the Preferences command in the Define menu. A submenu appears, listing the available panes of the Preferences window.

  5. 2. Choose Finding from the Preferences submenu. You see the Finding pane of the Preferences window.

  7. 3. From the scrolling list on the left, select the fields you want Now Contact to search by default. Select a field by clicking to the left of its name so that a checkmark appears. Clear a field by clicking the checkmark so that it disappears.

  9. The fields you select here are the fields that Now Contact automatically selects when you click the Defaults button in the Find window.

  11. 4. From the Comparison pop-up menu, choose the criteria to determine how text matches in a Find operation.

  13. 5. From the Where pop-up menu, choose an option to specify where Now Contact searches for text during a Find.
  14.  
  15. 6. From the List pop-up menu, choose an option to specify how found Contacts affect the Contacts in the current List View after a Find.

  17. 7. Close the Preferences window. You return to your Contact File.
